Second Life Event Machinima and Announcement

Dr. Henry Lowood, Stanford University, gave a presentation on Preserving Virtual Worlds in the Virtual Center for Archives and Records Administration on SLIS Island in Second Life Monday evening, February 25.  You can view the highlights of the presentation that summarizes his work in this area by viewing the machinima created by Dr. Val Hill, Texas Women's University.   Our next event, Tale of the Tudors, takes place March 18, 2013, from 6-7 pm SLT (pacific).  More information and SLURL available here

So many activities, so little time

As usual, I am apologizing for my absence.  I have been busy with many activities; two that you may want to participate in this week are listed here:

Attend this presentation on to hear Henry Lowood, curator for history of science & technology collections and for film & media collections at Stanford University, speak about this multi-university, interdisciplinary project funded by the Library of Congress and the Institute of Museum and Library Services.   Since 2000, Lowood has led How They Got Game, a research and archival preservation project devoted to the history of digital games and simulations at Stanford. His most recent publication is The Machinima Reader, published by MIT Press and co-edited with Michael Nitsche.
